The 15th annual Arlington Street Fair on September 20, 2014 will include many performers, vendors, and children’s activities

Children’s rides, a variety of live entertainment, a bluegrass music festival, and 100-plus vendors — including restaurants, shops, and craftspeople — will transform Raymond Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie into the 15th annual Arlington Street Fair on Saturday, September 20, from 12:00 to 6:00pm, rain or shine. Admission to the fair is free and open to the public. The fair stretches on Raymond Avenue from Collegeview Avenue to the Eastbound Arterial Highway (Route 44/55).

“The main purpose for this annual fair is to welcome new and current residents, merchants, students, and families to the Arlington neighborhood,” said Bob Legacy, director of the Arlington Business Improvement District.  “It is about revitalization, and it is also about having lots of fun!” The fair is co-sponsored by the Arlington Business Improvement District, Vassar College, Vassar Student Association, and Clear Channel Radio of the Hudson Valley.

Children’s activities located at the former elementary school on Raymond Avenue will include carnival and inflatable rides, as well as a fingerprinting unit from the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department. More than 100 vendors lining Raymond Avenue will offer selections from local shops, crafts, and restaurants, including a variety of ethnic cuisines.

The Hudson Valley Bluegrass Association will once again host a music stage throughout the fair at the neighborhood's Garden Arts Space on Raymond Avenue between Collegeview and LaGrange avenues.  The Vassar student “Barefoot Monkeys” circus arts group will also perform at the fair, and various civic and non-profit organizations will have information booths.

Neighborhood parking for the Arlington Street Fair will be available at the Davis Avenue parking lot, the Bank of America lot on Raymond Avenue, as well as on nearby streets.
